How Often Should You Paint Your Exterior

Nothing transforms the look of your home like a fresh coat of paint. You may be wondering how often you should paint your home to keep it in excellent shape. If you live in the Bitterroot Valley or Missoula area of Montana, you know how extreme our winters and weather can be. Here are some guidelines for how often to paint your home.

  1. The Weather

Montana is beautiful, but the weather can be harsh. Bitter winds, winter precipitation, humidity, and summer heat cause paint to degrade more quickly than other parts of the country. You should evaluate your exterior paint every 2 year to keep it in top shape and paint it at least every 5 years to prevent exterior damage.

2. Type of Siding

How often you should paint also depends on your siding type. Wood siding should be painted every 3-5 years. Aluminium siding and stucco should be painted every 5-10 years.

3. Condition of Your Paint

If exterior paint is chalking, peeling, or blistering or siding is deteriorating, it is definitely time to paint your home to prevent further damage.

Flores Remodel is your local house painter. We can evaluate your exterior paint to see if it needs just a touch up or a complete paint job. We are happy to serve the Bitterroot Valley and Missoula area of Montana.
