LVP FAQs

Are you considering installing new flooring, but are unsure which type to use? Laminate Vinyl Plank (LVP) is a great option. With a wide variety of colors and textures, this low-maintenance flooring is a go-to choice. This article will answer 5 frequently asked questions about LVP.

  1. What is LVP?

LVP is a synthetically produced, durable flooring that imitates hardwood, but requires much less maintenance. It has four layers: a top wear layer, a design layer, a vinyl core, and a backing. Some LVP also includes a pre-attached pad.

2. What are the advantages of LVP?

LVP is durable, waterproof, and well insulated. It is also more comfortable and easier to clean than hardwood.

3. Where can LVP be installed?

LVP flooring can be installed in any room. It is waterproof, stain-resistant, and extremely durable, which is always good for kitchens, bathrooms, or anywhere really. LVP is very comfortable in living rooms and more sanitary than carpet because dirt, hair, and spills remain above the surface, allowing you to thoroughly clean up any messes.

4. Can LVP be installed over old flooring?

Yes. LVP can be installed over most types of flooring, but may require underlayment depending on the condition of the floor and the type flooring you are installing over.

5. How do you care for LVP?

LVP is low-maintenance and easy to clean. Simply sweep or vacuum your new LVP floors. Then mop with 1 cup of vinegar to 1 gallon warm water. Your new LVP flooring will look beautiful for years to come.
